The impact you will make

As a Lab Assistant you will play a crucial part in fusion target research and development. Together with nanotechnologists and surface scientists you will contribute to fabricating, characterizing, and documenting components of fusion targets. You will work side-by-side with Marvel Fusion scientists and external collaborators, as well as experts in the field to advance our fusible target developments. Your efforts will focus on deposition of thin films, thickness and morphology evaluation of films and nanostructures, quality assessment, and development of protocols and report writing, as well as support field experts on day-to-day operations.

More specifically, you will be:

Conduct target fabrication research and development.
Perform comprehensive and systematic characterization and metrology of different components of fusion targets, in particular thickness and morphology, and subsequent quality assessment.
Develop and optimize MFs laboratory procedures.
Coordinate and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment
Document progress and acquired knowledge in cooperation with an internal team of scientists, external collaborators, and suppliers.

What you bring

Strong background in science or engineering, e.g., materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field.
Experience working in cleanrooms and chemistry labs.
Hands-on experience in materials synthesis and deposition (e.g. spin coating, spray coating, and metal evaporation and characterization (e.g., SEM, confocal microscopy, profilometry, AFM) methods.
Excellent organizational skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
Reliable, highly adaptable, and open to learning.
Curiosity, growth mindset and openness to new ways of doing things.
Excellent communication skills and a structured working style.
A healthy amount of flexibility, adaptability and a can-do attitude.
