The impact you will make
As a Control engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and realization of our state-of-the-art high-power laser facility. This new facility aims to demonstrate the unique features of our laser-driven fusion concept, marking significant strides toward fusion energy generation.
More specifically, you will:
- Be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the control system that ensures the precise operation and safety of a high-power laser system
- Work closely with other engineering teams to ensure that the facility control system seamlessly integrates our high-power laser control system and other local control sub-systems
- Manage all phases of the system design and implementation, including sub-supplier engineering, factory acceptance tests, installation and commissioning
- Troubleshoot and resolve any control-related issues that arise, ensuring system stability and reliability
- Maintain detailed documentation of control system designs, configurations, and modifications
What you bring
- Completed a degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field
- 5+ years' experience as a controls engineer on complex electro-mechanical systems, preferably for industrial applications of high-power laser systems, aerospace, or nuclear facilities
- Proven track record of designing and implementing control systems with safety-related control functions up to SIL3 / IEC 62061 or Pl e / ISO 13849-1
- The ability to program and troubleshoot automation PLC controllers in all IEC 61131-3 designated languages is strongly desired
- Knowledge of relevant European and US electrical and control system codes and standards
- Experience with configuration management
- Ability to develop ergonomic HMI
- Experience with scientific high-speed and high-volume data acquisition systems is a plus
- Motivation to work in an environment where creative, proactive problem-solving is required with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills in English
