Job Overview

We are seeking a Director to lead the Security Foundations Engineering (SFE) team within the Information Security team at LinkedIn. As a key player in our security strategy, you will drive the development and implementation of securing large-scale, distributed systems and microservices. This role will play a pivotal part in the design and execution of solutions to ensure the protection of our data and systems at scale. You will work closely with a team of engineers and cross-functional leaders to build and optimize security infrastructure & systems that supports LinkedIn’s expanding user base and infrastructure needs.
Lead the development and implementation of scalable, high-performance security infrastructure solutions that align with LinkedIn’s security objectives.
Oversee the strategy and evolution of areas of Identity, Access, Crypto/Key Management, and Vulnerability Management, ensuring solutions meet security, performance, and customer experience, and organizational goals.
Direct the execution of large-scale programs, managing full lifecycle operations and guiding the strategic direction of security architecture.
Ensure swift resolution and minimal impact to services.
Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing security infrastructure team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous growth.
Partner with cross-functional teams across Engineering to integrate security solutions and enhance LinkedIn’s infrastructure.

Key Deliverables and Measures of Success
Develop management practices to improve reliability, quality and performance of security services built and operated by Security Foundations Engineering.
Drive the short, medium and long term roadmap for the security services which support LinkedIn’s current and next generation infrastructure.

Basic Qualifications
10+ years in security engineering leadership.
10+ years in security building and deploying security architecture, at scale, with at least 5+ of those years in a technical or people leadership position.
4+ years experience in one or more of the following areas: cloud data infrastructure, search infrastructure, ML platforms, large Hadoop infrastructure or equivalent
Ability to lead by example and inspire the team to perform at a very high level, collaborates very well across different teams.
Highly motivated and has the ability to convert vague and ill-defined problems into well-defined problems, take initiative and encourage consensus building across the entire organization.
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years in cybersecurity for a highly regulated industry (e.g., finance, healthcare, energy) or technology.
Have a proven track record of developing and implementing successful cybersecurity strategies, including defense-in-depth.
10+ years’ experience in software design, development, and operation.
5+ years experience with large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures.
Experience with building and operating cryptographic systems at scale.
Extensive understanding of large scale engineering systems and some or all of big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Machine Learning, distributed key-value stores, streaming processes, workflow scheduler, recommender systems, statistical methods, experimental design.
Extensive understanding of cloud native computing technologies like Kubernetes
Strong leadership abilities in order to communicate and drive cross-functional efforts.
Relationship and people leadership skills.

LinkedIn is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
The pay range for this role is $203,000 to $333,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
