Scale-up Associate (Industrial Biotech)
Who are we
As a biotechnology company, we at Insempra don’t just hope for a better future, we actively work for it!
For way too long, companies have relied on chemical production processes, depleting our planet’s limited resources. That’s why we are on a mission to create a world with naturally high-quality products, resulting in a balance between humans and our planet.
On the way to a better world, we are currently accompanied by a team of more than 40 passionate scientists, entrepreneurs and visionaries with rebel hearts – but we are still missing one important person: you!
For our office directly at the IZB Campus in Munich/Martinsried we are looking for a Scale-up Associate (m/f/d) to support all scale-up related activities in a fast growing biotech startup environment. This role connect process development, manufacturing, and external partners, driving the successful transfer and scale-up of bioprocesses from lab to industrial scale (up to >100 m³ fermentation and multi-ton production). Does this sound like your next step?
We offer:
- You will be part of a dynamic start-up with real added value for the environment and society where your ideas are highly appreciated
- You will take on a meaningful function with access to a fully equipped lab, cutting edge technology and a lot of room for personal development
- Practical real-world experience and the opportunity to collaborate with a team of experts in bioprocess engineering who are dedicated to supporting you in your research
- You will be part of an international team with an open feedback culture, flat hierarchies, short decision-making processes and English as a working language
- You will receive vouchers in the amount of 50€/month via our benefits partner
For this position you will perform the following duties:
- Tech transfers and scale-up runs by collaborating with Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs)
- Provide remote and on-site technical support during technology transfer and scale-up activities, including real-time process monitoring and deviation analysis
- Develop, review, and optimize technical documentation for tech transfer and scale-up, including mass balances, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and batch records
- Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with CMOs, including leading technical discussions
- Support procurement of equipment and raw materials, and coordinate end-to-end logistics (e.g., shipping, customs clearance)
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process optimizations for future production campaigns
Your profile:
- Master’s Degree in (industrial) biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, biochemical engineering, or a related field
- Strong theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in microbial fermentation experience (yeast or bacteria)
- Experienced in bioprocessing at industrial scale, including hands-on experience is nice to have
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders
- Friendly, clear, and professional communication with internal and external partners
- High level of integrity, honesty, and transparency
