About Corintis

Corintis offers innovative microfluidic cooling technologies for AI chips/GPUs and CPUs used in data centers. Our solutions improve compute sustainability and tackle the excessive electricity consumption associated with data center cooling, which consumes more electricity than New York and London combined. With our software platform, Glacierware, our customers or us adapt microfluidic channels to the powermap of their chip, and we manufacture these into cold plate solutions or provide solutions to enable the customer to embed these cooling channels inside the package/the chip.

Working at Corintis

Corintis offers a friendly and team-oriented workplace bringing together a diverse group of over 20 nationalities to solve the biggest computing challenges of tomorrow. Based on the EPFL campus near Lausanne, we are closely connected to the local ecosystem and are located a few minutes walk from Lake Geneva.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Laser Systems & Prototyping Process Engineer to develop and optimize laser micro-etching processes for next-generation microfluidic cooling solutions. This role involves hands-on prototyping, process automation, and system optimization to enhance our in-house laser etching capabilities. The ideal candidate will push system limits, refine automation, and support small-batch prototype fabrication. This position is crucial in scaling our advanced thermal management solutions for high-performance computing.

Responsibilities:

1) Development and Implementation of Novel Laser System Processes

a. Develop and implement custom laser etching processes using advanced laser micro-etching systems, with a primary focus on microfluidic cooling solutions. This includes direct etching of advanced GPU/CPU silicon (Si), copper (Cu), diamond cold plates, and related microfluidic cooling components.

b. Optimize and automate validated processes to maximize the prototyping capacity of in-house systems. Identify and push system limits, drafting technical requirements for future machine enhancements or custom system development as needed to meet customer demands.

c. Conduct metrological evaluations of prototypes using tools such as the Keyence Microscope and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Provide feedback for process development, automation, and performance monitoring.

d. Lead software development efforts to automate advanced laser systems, ensuring seamless integration and scalability. Collaborate with external partners for final code drafting as needed while maintaining in-house expertise in machine programming, system control, and automation.

2) Prototyping Activities

a. Oversee prototyping activities for customer projects, transitioning from initial validation and process tuning to pilot production batches (10s to 100s of units).

b. Perform hands-on operation of advanced laser etching systems during the initial phase, with the goal of automating processes to reduce manual involvement over time.

c. Conduct metrological evaluations of samples (e.g., Keyence Microscope, SEM) and provide iterative feedback to refine processes and enhance prototype quality.

d. Ensure the availability of raw materials, tooling, and resources for prototyping. Maintain, calibrate, and ensure optimal performance of in-house advanced laser systems to meet project demands.

e. Use different types of prototype tools and systems to support the product development teams with early prototype samples. Support systems and test racks integration and parts validation as required.

Requirements:

Education & Experience

● Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Physics, Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.

● Proven experience with laser systems, micro-machining, or related process development (e.g., laser etching, engraving, or micromachining).

● Familiarity with microfluidics, cooling technologies, or advanced thermal management solutions is a strong plus.

Technical Skills

● Expertise in laser process development and operation of advanced laser systems.

● Proficiency in metrology tools, including Keyence Microscope and SEM.

● Strong programming skills for machine control and process automation (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, or equivalent).

Key Attributes

● Ability to lead prototyping projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

● Proactive problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.

● Excellent communication skills for interfacing with customers, external partners, and internal teams.

● Motivation to combine hands-on prototyping work with strategic process development: In the early stages, this role involves significant hands-on work, including operating advanced laser systems and managing small-batch prototype fabrication (10s to 100s of units) for customer validation. This phase is essential to understanding system capabilities and delivering high-quality results. Simultaneously, the role focuses on developing and implementing automation solutions to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and scale production capacity, transitioning into a more strategic role as these systems mature.

What we offer:

● Impactful Work: Be at the forefront of developing next-generation microfluidic solutions for next generation GPUs and CPUs.

● Career Growth: Gain hands-on expertise while driving innovation in laser etching and automation, with opportunities to shape the future of the technology and grow into leadership roles.

● Dynamic Environment: Join a fast-growing startup where innovation, collaboration, and adaptability are key drivers.

● Employee stock participation plan (PSOP), and a high-quality office environment and culture
