Senior Mechanical Technician

Castelion is seeking a highly motivated and experienced technician to support the company’s development and manufacturing of hypersonic rockets and ultra-high performance thermal protection systems. The Senior Technician will assist in hardware integration and production. A successful candidate will be a self-starter who takes full ownership of the projects they’re given, is detail-oriented, and thinks creatively to solve technical problems. This role coordinates closely with the entire Castelion engineering team to eliminate roadblocks to achieving the company’s technical goals

Responsibilities

• Support advanced materials R&D, structures testing and hypersonic vehicle hardware integration
• Follow engineering drawings, work orders, process documentation independently to accelerate builds and test programs
• Perform preventative maintenance on Castelion manufacturing equipment
• Preemptively and proactively eliminate blockers and relentlessly and creatively drive process improvements

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years experience
• Demonstrated ability to: interpret engineering drawings, use of dimensioning tools, basic electrical wiring, chemical handling, and process safety. Extra consideration for candidates with experience with vacuum systems, welding, and gas handling.
• Experience operating basic machining tools including drill presses, lathes, saws, and water jets. Extra consideration will be given for candidates with experience working with ovens, and vacuum furnaces.
• Worked in a fast-paced, autonomously driven, and high ownership environment
• Able to modify/design shop aids, jigs/fixtures on the floor to support any manufacturing operation.
• Previous experience with PLC/HMI/SCADA and NC for manufacturing. Hands-on integration, calibration and operations experience with electromechanical systems. Familiarity and experience with power systems for building infrastructure (220V/480V).

Capable of tactfully managing relationships with stakeholders to achieve company-desired outcomes without compromising relationships. Emails, IMs and verbal interactions are logical, drive clarity, and detailed enough to eliminate ambiguity.
