Willingness to travel minimum 50% within US territory and some travel to regions including UK & Europe

Your role in our team:

We are looking for a Director of Business Development (Toxicology), who will be responsible for driving strategic growth, building partnerships and expanding bit.bio’s presence in the toxicology market. This senior leader will identify and pursue new business opportunities, cultivate client relationships and collaborate with scientific, market development and sales teams globally, to deliver on the company’s overall strategy. They will be a team player, able to work with a supportive and enthusiastic team to leverage their network and experience of business development in this market, to find, accelerate and secure contracts with priority accounts.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement strategies to expand toxicology services across preclinical and clinical markets.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with key decision-makers, leveraging your life sciences expertise (ideally including iPSC-derived cell industry experience) to grow the customer base.
  • Drive commercial success by leading proposals, contract negotiations, pricing strategies and managing the sales pipeline to meet revenue goals.
  • Collaborate with scientific, operational and commercial teams to deliver tailored client solutions and ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Shape and execute go-to-market strategies, act as the voice of the customer, monitor industry trends and represent the company at industry events.
  • Mentor and support junior sales and business development staff, fostering a high-performance, customer-excellence culture.

You…

  • Hold a minimum BSc (Hons) or higher in a scientific discipline, ideally in Cell and Molecular Biology (or equivalent experience).
  • Have a strong and successful background in business development, sales, or client relationship & account management within toxicology, preclinical/clinical research, or related scientific services.

With essential experience in…

  • Demonstrable experience selling drug discovery or pre-clinical research services to the life sciences industry, with a proven track record of driving revenue growth and closing complex deals.
  • Strong working knowledge of toxicology testing services, regulatory requirements, and industry applications.
  • An established network across pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical, or consumer product industries is essential.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with scientific, operational and commercial teams.
  • Successful candidates will combine strategic thinking with practical execution, consistently delivering measurable results. They must also demonstrate the ability to build strong relationships across the spectrum of customer stakeholders, from bench scientists to senior decision-makers.
  • Expected minimum 50%+ of the role will be in the field - predominantly travelling within the US and some travel to regions including UK & Europe.

  • MBA qualification would be desirable.
  • Practical experience with cell culture, gained through postgraduate academic work or in an industrial laboratory.
  • Experience of the iPSC-derived cell industry.
  • Experience in contract research organisations (CROs) or laboratory service providers.
