The role
Biofidelity is expanding its Technology Development team responsible for the development of molecular diagnostic assays based on its core technology. We are seeking an experienced senior scientist to help us build and validate our product. This role will be primarily laboratory-based with a strong emphasis on IVD product development. This role reports to the Director of Technology Development.
Key responsibilities:
Independent development and iterative experimentation to drive improvement of assays for clinical diagnostic testing
Recommends innovative approaches, and/or expansion or curtailment of investigations based on experimental data or new scientific information arising from area of responsibility
Design a complex multistep assay
Independent analysis and interpretation of data and results, drawing out of conclusions and strategic recommendations
Interaction with team members in a multidisciplinary environment to ensure communication of project-relevant progress
Writing SOPs, reports and safety documentation
Giving advice and training others to perform validated assays
Presenting results to the team
Leading projects involving additional team members
Supervising and training responsibility for more junior members of the team
Potential line management responsibility
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong background in molecular biology (essential)
Strong background in NGS library preparation methodologies (essential)
Strong experience with single molecule detection assays (essential)
Broad understanding of assay development methodology including testing of sensitivity and specificity (NGS and others) (essential)
Experience in hybridisation and capture methodologies (preferred)
Highly motivated, team-oriented individual with strong attention to detail
Demonstrate strong relationship building with colleagues across the organisation
Ability to multi-task and problem-solve using novel approaches with a positive approach
Possesses a flexible mindset and ability to successfully navigate in a small, fast-growing company
Experience in biotechnology method development (preferred)
Experience in the following areas:
o High-sensitivity molecular assay development
o Multiplexed PCR/qPCR/dPCR
o Development of assays detecting DNA/RNA target of interest
o Cancer diagnostics
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
Proven experience in the development, optimisation and validation of clinical diagnostic assays
PhD in a relevant subject with preference for molecular biology and oncology plus more than 5 years of relevant academic or industrial experience
