As a Digital Electronics Engineer on the Space team, you will be responsible for owning the design, manufacture, test and deployment of highly integrated PCBAs used by a large number of space customers. You will work with a small team of software, hardware, and FPGA engineers to shepherd the product from initial design to vehicle integration, taking a full-stack approach to building robust space communication systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform trades and analyses of board architecture and component selection
- Schematic capture and layout of space-grade PCBs
- Bringup and testing of new designs
- Coordinating RF engineers for effectively bridging analog and digital domains
- Design for performance under space-grade acceptance, qualification, and compliance requirements
- Working with mechanical engineers to ensure proper thermal dissipation of the device
- Work with supply chain counterparts to enable rapid manufacture and iteration of components
Required Skills
- Proven experience designing boards using EDA tools
- Excellent understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals
- Strong experience designing and bringing up compute modules with the Xilinx Zynq MPSoC or equivalent platform
- Experience designing power trees with complex sequencing requirements
- Experience developing interfaces to large numbers of onboard chipsets (SPI/I2C/UART)
Desired Skills
- In-depth knowledge of Altium Designer
- Experience designing and debugging Xilinx MPSoC-based systems
- Experience debugging SoCs across the bootup stack (baremetal/bootloader/linux)
- Proven experience with high-speed data conversion systems used in RF
- Deep understanding of high-speed digital interfaces (PCIe, DDR, Ethernet)
- Deep understanding with configuration and interfacing of memories, volatile and nonvolatile
- Experience selecting and monitoring components capable of performing in a radiation environment
